There are quite a few things about society nowadays that really piss me off.
The one thing that really gets my goat are the people on commercial websites who don’t answer your emails when you make enquiries or ask for help on their products. Several times just lately I have clicked on the “Contact Us” tab and filled in the form to ask for further information about something on their site that I may be interested in buying. It’s very rare that I get an answer. When they don’t reply I think “Sod it, I wont visit their site again” because it seems that they can’t be that eager to sell me anything. Some sites don’t even have a way of contacting them, no email address, no location address or phone number! This is in complete contrast to all the junk mail I get from people wanting to sell me things I don’t want or need! I’m off to the pub. . .

Betsy: I just did a count up of emails to various food and commodity internet shops I have emailed recently. I am currently waiting for a reply to 16 emails and “contact us” boxes, some as old as 4 months! Normally I like to see what I’m buying, but as that is not possible on the net I ask questions as to the suitability before ordering. I have been conned several times in the past, and now I’m wary before parting with my money.

What about car drivers that park on the pavement so you have to walk in the road to get round, and the companies that do reply but the answer has nothing to do with the email you sent.

And then there are the bully boy lorry drivers who sit on your tail on the motorway.

Here, all mini-bus drivers terrorise others. They break the rules, oh wait, they don’t KNOW the rules.

Cold calls are becoming more frequent here, too and they are beginning to foil the ‘stop secret’ facility. However, so far, I’ve been lucky with responses from websites. Come on, it’s time you moved to France, Keith.

My pet peeve is drivers who speed and maneuver and cut you off just to get ahead of you and then SLOW DOWN. Really gets my goat. If they are in such an all-fired hurry to be first in line, then step on the accelerator and go. Speed on brother, hell ain’t half-full, say I.

Helen: I enquired about a product recently, and they did reply, but it was just trying to sell me another product and no mention of my original query! Ever since then I have had a constant stream of emails from them trying to sell me things I dont need or want. Pat: Even tonight I was followed by a yoof in his souped up Cortina who tailgated me all the way down a single track lane, constantly trying to overtake me! Idiot! GG: Fortunately the bus drivers around here are very polite and behave themselves, only because they fear for their jobs if they misbehave! Sandy: Move to France? Now that the pound has fallen against the Euro, my OAP pension would be frozen to it’s present value if I moved, plus the cost of buying a property in France has escalated in the last few years; I think it’s out of the question now. One of them is the drivers who constantly change lanes without warning on roundabouts, filter lanes and three lane roads, like motorways, without indicating their intentions. Another one is the drivers who overtake at speed on narrow roads, even on the cross-hatching marks. Worse still are the ones who undertake on the left; don’t they realise that they are in the other drivers “blind spot” and could cause an accident if the first driver pulls over to the left suddenly?
Here are a few facts, which might help you decide if you've had the unfortunate experience of meeting me in real life or not ... I am 75 going on 30, divorced and available. I enjoy French cooking, drinking lots of wine, (French of course!) and holidaying in France (on a pittance, I might add!). I also have a passion for amateur radio and electronics. I design and make stained glass windows now purely as a hobby (It used to be my trade until I retired). My other interests are archery and French boule; playing Petanque with friends and a nice bottle of vin rouge on the side.
