My mother said, rather dryly, after I read her this, you should come to Guyana and see what goes on here with pensioners’ $$ and other benefit schemes.

I suspect they’re being politically correct. When an all points police bulletin went out (my home town) for a suspect who was African-American, based on witnesses’ description, the police were stopping motorists who fit the description, who were, of course, all brown-skinned, black haired. The outcry that went up regarding “profiling” would have been funny if it weren’t so crazy. If that is the description, then it’s appropriate to “profile” but political correctness rules these days.

And regarding giveaway scams, the news yesterday showed a well fed woman in an expensive quilted down parka with a cell phone to her ear, getting a free Thanksgiving meal from the Food Pantry for the poor. Guess her ethnicity, I challenge you.

I just watched the advert. Benefit thieves are those who work and don’t declare their earnings. The ones over here don’t work at all, just share children back and forth to collect Aid to Dependent Children.

GG: Know what you mean about pensioners. In Britanistan now we have the lowest Old Age Pension in the EU! It is not enought to live comfortably on. With about 3 million pensioners in “fuel poverty” it’s a choice between “heat” or “eat” in the Winter months. The Government admit that they know this, and give us a £250 Winter Fuel Allowance in December, just about enough to cover one months gas bill out of the usual four or five cold months of the year!

Sarah: We had a similar incident here recently. Some young asians were suspected of being involved in a rape situation, so the police stopped and questioned all the asian youths they suspected, but in order to be politically correct they stopped and questioned the same number of white yoofs in spite of the fact that the girl had said the offenders were all asian looking!

I remember seeing a TV documentary about swapping children between immigrant families in order to get extra benefits, but they were caught out by the undercover tactics on the part of the TV company. Spoilsports!

BTW why not watch programmes on I-player? Surely you don’t need a licence for that?

At the moment you don’t need a TV licence to watch programmes on Iplayer, but there are plans afoot in Parliament to make it law that you will need a TV licence for your computer if it is on the Internet. This is because you can now receive “live” programmes via the internet.

I have been using computers and the Internet virtually since it became available, and just because the TV companies have now introduced live TV onto it they think they have the right to demand that ALL Internet users, in this country at least, should pay the full licence fee of £146 per annum, whether you watch TV or Iplayer or not!

Yet another stealth tax by our corrupt Government to make loads of money.

I haven’t had a TV for at least 12 years and I’m not in the slightest bit interested in owning one and watching all the shite that they put out. If they try to make me buy a licence for the computer then I shall just come off the Internet, bin the modem, and just use my computer for home entertainment, and then use the free computers in the library to update my blog and other pages; until they start charging us to use them that is!

I was here first and there was never even any mention that online TV would become available one day.
