Sorry, no photo this week. Now that the weather is better, with warm sunny days (unbelievable!)  I have been out and about enjoying it.

I haven’t prepared a picture, or even posted this last week. The computer hasn’t been on except to check the news and my emails; which incidently seem to have hit an all time low. Nobody loves me any more!

I bought a new program yesterday. It’s called “Print Artist 23″ and looks quite good from the flashy box graphics. I have been using “Print Artist 8″ for a long time to create headers, banners and greeting cards (too tight-fisted to buy commercial ones), so I thought it was about time I upgraded.

Print Artist is a good program and it comes with thousands of copyright free graphics for all occasions. The only progam to beat it is Photoshop. When I’m working on webpages or processing photos I use a combination of Photoshop, Print Artist and the good old Windows ‘Paint’, transferring the artwork backwards and forwards between the three programs to do different things.

You’re certainly a whizz with software. I still haven’t much clue even after a few years blogging.
When are you planing your next trip to France? I’m looking forward to that coffee in the Place Ducale.

Good old Windows ‘Paint’ has actually moved on a fair old bit. The proper version is now called ‘Paint.Net’, and can be downloaded from here:

I’ve been playing around with it here on and off for some time, and even though I’m still struggling with the ‘layers’ concept, I’m certain it’s a serious replacement professional standard over PhotoShop Pro. And with the available plugins you don’t need any other 3rd party software (which is the main weakness of PhotoShop, hence Apple Mac’s always need to have the entire Adobe range installed as well!). However you do need to install the MS .Net V4 first.

I’ve learnt something, thanks to Kevin. I have to do a lot of scanning and I’m finding all the clicking involved with paint is causing my finger joints to swell.

I must make more time to experiment and learn. Hope the good weather is continuing for you.

What Helen said. I am envious of, as well as grateful for, your graphics expertise, Keith.
