This week my contribution is an early picture of my mother and her brothers and sisters. I'm not sure when the photo was taken, but I do know it was before 1929. The reason I know that is because the boy on the left at the back died from poliomyelitis in 1929.
From left to right at the back is Harry, Mary (my mother), and Jessica. At the front is Dorothy, Robert, and Irene. The picture is a copy of the original, and that's the reason it's cut at off at the side and bottom.
I don't know where the original is. The photo was taken on my grandparents farm at Twycross in Leicestershire.
The farm has now disappeared and in it's place is a new housing estate called "The Oaks", which is ironic really because all the oak trees and hedgerows were cut down to make way for the houses and roads!Labels: Family |
